I have been asked several times why I love this name. Well the things is that the first time I heard it is when I was watching Lion King and and Kivuli’s daughter’s name was Kipusa and instantly I fell in love and later on watching discovery there was this lioness her name was Savannah and her daughter, Kipusa.

So for those who have been in wonderment, Kipusa means alot of things and it goes way back in time i.e during our grandparents forefathers and back then it meant something totally different in other parts of the country notebly Zanzibar and Tanzania.

Kipusa refers to a highly valued woman. The term originally refers to the horn of a rhinoceros that has a high commercial value and is rare. Kipusa is often the mistress of a married man. Because the relationship is socially disapproved and
maintained in secrecy, the man values his mistress more than his wife.

I am not married and neither am I a mistress to anyone.

Also “Kipusa” is a bony outgrowth that is not fully grown on a rhino’s head. This tusk is highly valued among many communities in the world. It is believed that among the many uses of such a horn, it contains medicinal value. Some communities even hold as true charges that a rhino’s horn is a powerful love potion that a small dose sends the user feeling horny. This belief could easily account for the rarity with which rhinos are found all over the world, and efforts made to preserve the animals from being extinct through poaching.
